Over the last 40 years, popular music - and psychological tests of people's personalities - have revealed a shift towards narcissism: people are more selfish. less empathic, and more aggressive than ever before.  Is that accurate?  If so, WHY?  What has changed from the time of songs about "we" and love to songs about "me" and hate?

 

You'll begin this unit by measuring your own NPI score and discovering how narcissistic - or not - you really are.  You'll then evaluate the accuracy of the test - did it measure you right? - and present about it. 

 

Next, you'll re-design the test and learn some basic research methods.  You'll determine your interview procedure and target a population to test, then run your own experiment.  You'll learn some basic statistics, analyze the results, then write a research paper on your findings.
