UNIT TITLE:

who's afraid of the big bad mouse?

Disney has owned American childhood for over 50 years.  It's stories, characters, and songs have become the fairy tales American children are raised on.

But what lessons are they teaching kids?

In this unit, you will examine the messages of Disney films about gender, love, family, and race.  You'll also get a chance to read some of the original fairy tales and compare the messages to decide which - if either - is a better choice.
